Tests de Santé
Produce balanced dogs and healthy is one of my priorities:
I prefer quality over quantity!
Tests
All of our breeders are tested genetically for:
AOC - Collie eye anomaly
APR - Progressive atrophy of the retina
HSF4 - Hereditary cataract
MDR - Drug sensitivity
DM - Degenerative myelopathy
But also tracked by an ophthalmologist licensed to canine hereditary eye diseases, including AOC, APR and all forms of cataracts.
It is important for me that the eye tests to avoid problems related to vision.
The results of genetic tests can vary between + / + (unharmed), +/-(healthy carrier) and -/-(reached)
In our selection of the reproducers /, I chose preferably unscathed AOC, APR and HSF4 dogs.
We can't oust the reproduction of AOC or APR or HSF4 bearers dogs under worth risking to impoverish the population.
This isn't because there are a lot of Australian Shepherds they are all qualities!
During our future projections, I privilegerai a free player as a healthy carrier, to equal dog.
What to know:
Remember that a healthy carrier AOC or APR (+/-) will never be reached of the disease.
But it will have to be married with a dog free in order to avoid any risk of having affected puppies.
Car + / and +/-can give the-/ -!
A dog suffering from AOC and or APR (-/-) should not reproduce.
It is for this that if I use a healthy carrier, future owners will be notified.
About HSF4 testing, he unfortunately cannot ensure 100% a free dog cataract.
The HSF4 gene is not the only cause of the disease.
17% of dogs with bilateral cataracts do not transfer (so are + / +).
Genetic research continues, but for now, the other factors involved in the expression of the disease remain unknown.
On test MDR 1, I wouldn't step aside a good player if he has a mutated gene (+/-).
This change has no impact on our dogs from the moment where the dangerous molecules are not administered them.
The mutation does not disturb the life of our dogs.
In addition, a free dog may well have a reaction to a strong intake of ivermectin
(Ingestion of feces of animals having been an anthelmintic ivermectin the day before or the same day, for example).

Dysplasia of the hips and elbows
Here are the possible results for hip dysplasia:
A = no signs of Dysplasia: can reproduce
B = substantially normal state: can reproduce
C = slight Dysplasia: must reproduce with a dog
D = dysplasia average: cannot reproduce
E = severe Dysplasia: cannot reproduce
Here are the possible results about elbows Dysplasia:
ED0 = absence of Dysplasia: can reproduce
SL = stage limit: must reproduce with a dog ED0
ED1 = slight Dysplasia: cannot reproduce
ED2 = dysplasia average: cannot reproduce
ED3 = severe Dysplasia: cannot reproduce
!!! ATTENTION!
It is important when putting in the reproduction of a dog that all the TESTS presented above are completed.
... Do not do anything, no matter how...
Ask your breeder for advice!
Breed his dog is not a requirement, and no it won't him good!
This isn't because you are told that your dog is beautiful, the vet said that it would be a shame to sterilize the, to do it again!
Raise is a job, raise it's a real work of selection, it does not just happen!
